Flint Hills Technical College is a two-year public institution of higher education located in Emporia since its founding in 1963, in the heart of the flint hills.
Flint Hills Technical College offers 15 programs of study along with a variety of short-term training courses and continuing education courses. Classes are small with an average 15 to 1, student to faculty ratio.
NetWork Kansas focuses on education as one of the three foundations of our entrepreneurial mission, and Flint Hills Technical College provides business-minded students with classes to help them become successful entrepreneurs.
According to the college, "Our Start Your Own Business course is a two-credit introductory course designed to equip new and potential business owners with all the knowledge and tools needed for success. Topics covered include business plans, regional markets & market research, organizational structure, insurance, leasing, licenses, permits, zoning, accounting & taxes, cash flow, business finance, franchising, business expansion, e-commerce, marketing for small business, employer/employee relations, daily operations & business processes, and local resources. This course is currently being expanded into a short-term Entrepreneurship Certificate."
